SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, today announced the 2017 Immersion Academy for Women. This accelerated training and certification program offers women a fast track to top jobs in cybersecurity. The program offers the selected candidates an opportunity to complete up to three of SANS’ world-class cybersecurity training courses and earn the associated GIAC certifications. The Immersion Academy is an intensive, accelerated program designed for completion in approximately 6 months, depending upon the program selected.

“The cybertalent pipeline is small compared to the demand for skilled professionals and there are far too few women in the field,” says Max Shuftan of the SANS Institute. “A recent study by the Women’s Society of Cyberjutsu (WSC) found that women represented only 11% of the information security workforce. The SANS Women’s Immersion Academy is a great opportunity for women with an aptitude for InfoSec to develop hands-on skills and achieve industry-leading certifications on the path to a rewarding career in cybersecurity.”

Interested candidates will need to request an aptitude assessment no later than Wednesday, April 5, 2017. Courses will begin in June with graduation in December. The pilot Women’s Immersion Academy was launched in 2016 with a cohort of 19 women consisting of college seniors, career changers and individuals re-entering the workforce. 16 of the 19 women in the pilot cohort have completed the program with at least one GIAC certification on their path into the cybersecurity workforce.
