SAN JOSE, Calif. – June 22, 2017 – Lewis Brisbois, the 13th largest U.S.-based, full-service law firm, has selected Cisco HyperFlex™ Systems, Cisco UCS® and Citrix XenApp® and XenDesktop® to virtualize and deliver Microsoft Office and other core legal applications requiring the highest level of security to its lawyers and staff, in an effort to modernize the firm’s infrastructure. By doing so, Lewis Brisbois seeks to increase the productivity and satisfaction of its growing personnel base, stay nimble through market transformation, and keep costs low for its clients.
“Our clients choose Lewis Brisbois because of the exceptional skill of our lawyers and staff,” said Frank Gillman, chief information officer, Lewis Brisbois. “We want to provide a technology environment and infrastructure to match that level of expertise.”
The firm evaluated several traditional and hyperconverged infrastructures and selected Cisco® HyperFlex Systems. Cisco offered HyperFlex™ as a solution to accelerate growth and provide the flexibility to scale as the expanding firm increases its headcount.
The benefit beyond the technology
“In a law firm or any professional services organization, your assets are your people. As the firm’s profile and talent acquisition increases, we need to meet the high expectations of our stakeholders and laterals for infrastructure and systems,” said Robert Kamins, chief operating officer, Lewis Brisbois. “The system we now have in place with Cisco and Citrix exemplifies our commitment to providing a top-quality user experience and is consistent with our overall improvement efforts.”
Cisco + Citrix
By using Cisco HyperFlex as the engine to run over 2,000 Citrix seats, Lewis Brisbois gained several new capabilities. The combination enables access to better features and newer versions of Citrix XenDesktop, as well as the option to enable bring-your-own-device and mobility options. HyperFlex also allows the firm to better plan for continued growth by reporting available capacity to management ahead of new employee onboarding.
“The combination of Cisco and Citrix has led to a significant decrease in call volume to support. This now allows us to focus on other priority projects,” said Don Schroeder, Citrix Enterprise Engineer, Lewis Brisbois.
“By adopting the joint solution of Cisco HyperFlex with Citrix XenDesktop, Lewis Brisbois has substantively improved the way people work,” said Calvin Hsu, vice president of product marketing, Citrix. “This type of collaboration is the perfect example of the innovative secure app delivery solutions we envision for the future.”
What’s next
Lewis Brisbois is leveraging the new infrastructure to further realize its mission to make it easier for lawyers to practice law using technology. Cisco HyperFlex was chosen to provide a stable platform on which to build.
