  • December 12, 2016

SANS Institute, the global leader in information security training, and Carbon Black®, the leader in next-generation endpoint security, today announced the speaker line-up for the 2017 Threat Hunting & Incident Response Summit. Taking place April 18 & 19 in New Orleans, followed by training courses April 20-25, the summit offers the opportunity to directly learn from and collaborate with incident response and detection experts who are uncovering and stopping the most recent, sophisticated, and dangerous attacks against organizations.

“The 2016 inaugural Threat Hunting & Incident Response Summit was an extraordinarily insightful and successful event for a sold-out crowd. This year, we’ll again bring together industry experts from top organizations to share their hunting techniques and strategies. I am again thrilled to co-chair this event,” said Ben Johnson, Co-Founder & Chief Security Strategist, Carbon Black

According to Rob Lee, Fellow and DFIR Lead at SANS and Summit co-chair, “Over the past few years, organizations have significantly reduced attacker dwell time from many months to several weeks. The main reason most of these organizations have seen such a dramatic decrease in dwell time is due to threat hunting operations introduced and implemented in their daily security operations. Organizations that haven’t moved as swiftly are still unable to detect their own intrusions and the dwell time is still being measured in months. The Threat Hunting and Incident Response Summit brings together many of the tactics and secrets that teams have used successfully in their own organizations.”

The Threat Hunting & Incident Response Summit was created by SANS, in collaboration with founding partner Carbon Black, to address a gap in the security landscape. SANS and Carbon Black will join forces with other top threat intelligence experts to provide summit attendees with specific hunting and incident response techniques and capabilities that can be used to identify, contain, and eliminate adversaries targeting networks. Included among the summit speakers are:
