VMware AirWatch Achieves FedRAMP Authority to Operate

PALO ALTO, CA–(Marketwired – November 03, 2016) – VMware, Inc. (NYSE: VMW), a global leader in cloud infrastructure and business mobility, today announced VMware AirWatch® has been granted an Authority to Operate (ATO) by the U.S. Census Bureau under the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP℠). FedRAMP is a U.S. government-wide program that provides a standardized approach to security assessment, authorization and continuous monitoring for cloud products and services. As a FedRAMP Compliant System, federal government entities can now deploy the leading enterprise mobility management (EMM) solution in the cloud.

“Earning the FedRAMP Authority to Operate is a major win for federal organizations seeking to deploy a digital workspace strategy in the cloud,” said William J. Rowan, vice president, Federal Sales, U.S. Public Sector at VMware. “Agencies that want to leverage the benefits of a cloud-based solution to secure and manage their mobile devices and applications can now use VMware AirWatch, the leader in enterprise mobility management, with a service that complies with the NIST Cyber Security framework. Federal agencies currently using VMware AirWatch can simply migrate to the FedRAMP-approved cloud service to take advantage of the simplicity and flexibility of cloud EMM deployments.”

Federal agencies deploying cloud-based EMM are required to use a solution that is FedRAMP certified. With the authority to operate from FedRAMP, VMware AirWatch is now among the select group of cloud EMMs authorized to deploy its cloud EMM solution with federal government agencies. AirWatch by VMware Government Services is based on the award-winning VMware AirWatch platform, already used by all branches of the Federal Government.

VMware AirWatch has enabled thousands of organizations to be more efficient and cost-effective with cloud-based EMM. Now federal government agencies can enjoy an EMM cloud solution that has been thoroughly tested and approved. VMware worked closely with agency partner Coalfire to build AirWatch by VMware Government Services to meet the rigorous security and privacy requirements set forth by FedRAMP so federal agencies can manage, secure, remotely deliver apps and protect all devices running iOS, macOS, Android, Windows 10 and more from the cloud.
