Imprivata extends security and identity platform with Cerner Millennium

Kansas City, Mo.– November 14, 2016—Imprivata®, the healthcare IT security company, will showcase new capabilities for Cerner Millennium users to leverage integration with Imprivata Confirm ID™, the comprehensive identity and authentication platform, to enable fast, secure authentication for electronic prescribing of controlled substances (EPCS), clinical workflows, and remote access during the Cerner Health Conference (November 14-17, 2015 in Kansas City, Mo.; Imprivata booth #501). At the conference, Imprivata will also display its full suite of solutions for enabling healthcare providers to access, communicate, and transact patient health information securely and conveniently.

By allowing providers to meet DEA and state-level requirements for EPCS while ensuring a fast, efficient workflow, Imprivata Confirm ID improves efficiency, increases patient safety and satisfaction, and helps combat the national opioid and prescription drug abuse epidemic. In addition to EPCS, Imprivata Confirm ID enables more than 200 Cerner customers who already use Imprivata to leverage fast, secure authentication for other workflows within Cerner Millennium, including medication ordering, medication administration record, and pharmacy dispensing.

“To deliver effective patient care, providers need to be able to access, communicate and transact patient health information through workflows such as prescribing, administering and wasting medications. To protect PHI and address drug diversion, these transactions also need to be secure, and adding an additional layer of security introduces the risk of inefficiency and potential barriers to patient care,” said Dr. Sean Kelly, Chief Medical Officer for Imprivata. “Imprivata Confirm ID addresses this challenge through tight integration with Cerner Millennium and offering a comprehensive set of innovative and convenient authentication options. This gives healthcare organizations a powerful solution to enforce user authentication to bolster security while ensuring providers have a fast, efficient, and seamless workflow.”

At the conference, Imprivata will also display its full suite of solutions, including:

  • Imprivata PatientSecure™, a positive patient identification solution that creates a 1:1 match between individual patients and their unique medical records, accurately retrieving patients’ digital health records using biometric identification across all points of care.
  • Imprivata Cortext®, the KLAS 2015/2016 Category Leader for Secure Messaging, which enables care providers to communicate across their mobile device, tablet, or desktop to better coordinate care amongst physicians, nurses, and other clinical staff.
  • Imprivata OneSign®, the KLAS 2015/2016 Category Leader for Single-Sign on (SSO), which enables care providers to spend less time with technology and more time with patients by eliminating the need for repeatedly typing usernames and passwords.
