Imprivata Collaborates with Welch Allyn to Enhance Security for Medical Devices

Lexington, Mass.– October 11, 2017Imprivata®, the healthcare IT security company, today announced a new collaboration with Hill-Rom’s (NYSE: HRC) Welch Allyn, a leading global provider of medical diagnostic equipment, to enhance the security of medical devices. Imprivata will provide a “sneak peek” demonstration of this integrated solution at its booth (#707) at the annual Cerner Health Conference on October 9-12 in Kansas City, MO, and will be recruiting customers interested in beta testing this solution.

The Imprivata-Welch Allyn collaboration centers on integrating the Imprivata Confirm ID platform into the Welch Allyn Connex® vitals monitoring portfolio. By enabling fast, secure authentication for accessing and transacting with patient information on medical devices, this integrated technology improves security and auditing capabilities compromising clinician efficiency and patient care. For clinicians, this means a faster, more efficient log-in to the device, helping them move quickly to their primary business of patient care.

“In today’s health care environment, workflow efficiency and security are two sides of the same coin. Our collaboration with Imprivata helps us deliver a faster user experience for our clinicians, while delivering the security today’s healthcare organizations demand,” said Alton Shader, President of Hill-Rom Front Line Care, which includes Welch Allyn. “We are excited to further improve connected workflows for our customers with the Connex vitals monitoring portfolio.”

“Failure to properly secure networked and non-networked medical devices can lead to myriad problems for healthcare organizations, ranging from data integrity and availability concerns to compliance and patient safety implications,” said Carina Edwards, Senior Vice President of Customer Experience at Imprivata. “This new collaboration with Welch Allyn positions Imprivata Confirm ID for Medical Devices as a one-step workflow for user identification, while increasing data security by assuring that EMR users have been properly authenticated.”
